10 Simple Tips to Feel Happy Everyday

There are times when nothing seems to be going right in your life and sadness engulfs you.Whether it is work related, loss of a close one or a broken heart, you are not alone. It happens to other people too, actually more often than you think it does. Although the reasons might be different, almost everyone at some point of time feels sad, dejected and depressed.

If you have been feeling unhappy for some time now, then try these simple tips that will help you come out of it.

Get a Makeover

Yes, a 360 degree makeover is what you need. Don’t you just feel good after getting a new haircut or a new dress? So why not do that now? This is the time to rediscover your beautiful self. Buy that dress you had always wanted or get a cool hair colour. Just anything that make you feel beautiful and glamorous.

Pamper yourself

A spa trip! Take a day off and go to the spa. A nice rejuvenating massage is guaranteed to make you feel better, if not happy!

Listen to your Favourite Music

Music can do wonders. Music is a proven method to lift up your mood. Old songs or upbeat music can divert your mind and make you feel happier, instantly.

Take a Walk Outside

We know that outside is not where you want to go right now, but taking a stroll outside will divert your mind from the issues that are bothering you. Take a walk in a park, garden or a quiet street. And remember it is also be beneficial for your health.

Go to the Movies

“Movies?Alone? No way!” now that’s what you think. There is nothing wrong with going to the movies alone. Taking some time off for yourself will help you reconnect with your thoughts. Watch a feel good movie and you will be surprised how it changes your mood.

Take up a Hobby

Doctors recommend everyone to have a hobby. If you don’t, then you are missing out on a lot of fun. Studies show that people who have taken up a hobby are much less prone to feeling lonely or sad. Having a hobby lets people give time to their interests. Hobbies are also a great way to meet new people and socialize with them.

Small Vacation

Everyone needs a little time off from their monotonous routine. Go alone or with your closest friends for the weekend. A small getaway can help you get over the boredom and will definitely make you happy.

Read a Good Book

Stephen King said “Books are a uniquely portable magic.” Books can indeed make you travel miles without moving. A good book can reduce your stress and keep your mind off it. If a vacation seems too expensive for you then a good book will definitely uplift your mood.

Get a Pet

Pets can do wonders when it comes to uplifting your mood. They give you company and amuse you with their little tricks and gestures. Studies have proven that caring for pets reduces stress and makes you live longer. And if you think taking care of a dog or cat is too much work, then get yourself a fish. That will work too!

Meditation

We know it is easier said than done. Meditation takes a lot of effort and time. But once you are determined to do it, you will notice the change in your mood and outlook altogether. All you need to do is concentrate on your breathing. Start by doing it for a few minutes daily and gradually increase the time.

These were a few simple and sure shot ways to enliven your mood and keep sadness at bay. But the most important thing that you need to do is, keep negative thoughts away and embrace the positive. It is only then that you will be truly happy.
