A Great Fix for Uterine Fibroids

Uterine Fibroids which are emerging as one of the major medical conditions affecting women all over the world are rarely life threatening. They are benign tumors which make it very uncomfortable for the woman to go through her everyday activities. In such a condition, surgery comes out as the only feasible option.
However, a latest research has been able to develop a less invasive alternative to surgery - a device which can block the blood supply to the Fibroids.
How This Works:
Translucent Microscopic beads are injected into the bloodstream with the help of a catheter which is threaded through the thigh artery of the patient up into the uterus. These beads look like tiny marbles passing through a pipe which can travel through the bloodstream towards the Fibroid. Upon arriving the target area, the beads are able to wedge into the vessel, thereby blocking the flow of the blood to the fibroid. Over the period of time, the Fibroid eventually shrinks and withers away on its own.
In a major study conducted across 132 women across the world, the procedure was quite successful. The only complications arising from the procedure were excessive bleeding and pelvic pain. The treatment has emerged to be safer as compared to a hysterectomy. Most patients are able to recover within a week and there is no scarring.
