In a lot of cases, women are not advised to take aspirin while they are pregnant by their doctors. However, if you are planning to take the medicine without any prior supervision of your doctor, it is recommended to check in with your doctor beforehand.

Though it is quite unlikely that taking a single dose of the medicine in the early phases of the pregnancy will have a negative effect, the medicine can cause severe damage for both the mother and the baby when taken regularly. Studies have proved that aspirin can be linked to several pregnancy related complications. A lot of studies have shown that taking aspirin around the time of conception and during early pregnancy can increase the risk of miscarriage manifold. Also, taking aspirin throughout your pregnancy can also affect the growth of your baby and can increase the chances of placental abruption.

Taking a full dose of the medication can result in delayed labor and also tends to increase the risk of heart disease and lung problems in your newborn child. It can also lead to bleeding complications for the mother and the baby.

Therefore, until and unless your doctor recommends it to you, it is not advised to take aspirin while you are pregnant.
