Quitting Smoking

Created On : February 24, 2015

Hi,

I am 24 year old and have a smoking habit from the last 4 years. Usually, on an everyday basis, I smoke around a pack of cigarettes. However, I have decided to quit smoking now. My therapist and doctor have welcomed this decision. However, can anyone provides me any real tips on to how I can get rid of the habit. Anyone who has been a smoker in the past and has been able to quit successfully? Thanks.

Hi, Yes, I quit smoking 2 years ago. Though it may be very difficult for you in the beginning and you may suffer from attacks, however, later on, it will be allright. Usually, it is difficult in the first two weeks of the quitting. Try going for nicotine patches or for herbal cigarettes. They may be a bit costly, but if you are determined to quit then they are going to surely help you.

Hi, You will be needing the help of your family during the entire de addiction process. Try fixing regular appointments with your doctor. Let me know if this helps.

I know friends who could not quit smoking for long time though they knew its harmful effects like cancer. But when they got to know its negative effect on fertility, they were able to quit it. So i feel its quite psychological. I know one friend who after having a daughter, quit smoking when he realized he could lose his beautiful life with his daughter because of this habit. So psychologically try to gain control on urself and think of the most valuable thing in ur life which you would lose if u continue this habit. Be Strong and Dont give up to the urge!
