People often contemplate over the best way to cook their food which is able to contain the flavour as well as the nutrient content of the ingredients. Though many ways of cooking food are known, however, some conventional ways are not considered the healthiest by the experts. Overcooking destroys about 15-20 percent of the nutrient content of the food, killing the major nutrients such as Vitamin C, potassium and calcium. Therefore, it is important to know the best ways to cook the food.
Microwaving is considered the healthiest forms of food preparation due to the minimal time required for cooking and thus causing to the minimal destruction of the nutrients. Microwaving causes the release of the micro waves that do not need the extra oils to be added in order to cook the food. Microwaving can be done for different foods ranging from vegetables to rice, meats and eggs. Microwaving tops the list amongst the safest ways to cook food.
Second in the league is boiling. Boiling is primarily one of the simplest ways to cook food. All you have to do is to pour water and add a dash of salt to that. Scientific research has shown that boiling preserves food in the best possible way as compared to other ways such as frying or steaming. Boiling conventionally removes all impurities owing to the high temperatures and thus, proves out to be the simplest and easiest way to preserve the nutrient value of the food that you consume.
Steaming is the best way for cooking in order to retain the natural juices of the food and preserve the taste of the real food. It is often recommended to add a pinch of salt, lemon or flavoured seasonings like oregano or chilli before steaming your food. Steaming and searing makes sure that the freshness and crunchiness of the food along with the vital nutrients are maintained in your food. Steaming with the minimal amount of grease and spices is the best way to cook your food.
4. Poaching and Frying:
When it comes to cooking meats and steaks, then poaching is the best method for you. Chicken and meats can be made excellently with frying, which adds calories and grease. People often end up overcooking the meats. However, it is recommended that meats should be dealt with a quick sauté as overcooking leads to rubbery texture of meats and thus, should be avoided.
