How to Detox Your Skin

To have radiant and beautiful skin that shines with health, you need to get rid of toxins that have accumulated in the body. Too many late nights, inadequate sleep, unhealthy eating habits and a less than perfect beauty regime, can lead to a build-up of toxins, making skin look dull. However, there are a number of ways to detox you skin.
Dry Body Brushing
One of the best ways to detox your skin is to do dry body brushing. It is a great way to slough off dead cells and remove accumulated grime and excess oil from your skin. To do dry body brushing you need a natural body brush with soft but firm bristles with a long handle. Start brushing your skin, beginning from your legs and working your way up in long upward motion, taking care that you use a gentle touch. Shower, once you are done. Doing this regularly will help you to get rid of toxins and attain smooth and glowing skin.
Water is rightly called the elixir of life. Many of us do not drink adequate amount of water which makes our skin dry and dehydrated, making it more prone to wrinkles and fine lines. It is very important to keep your skin hydrated by having at least 8- 10 glasses of water every day. You can add a slice of lemon or lime to your water to make it more appealing.
Lay off the Sugar
Having too many sugary treats such as cakes and sweets can break the elasticity of your skin and make it prone to sagging and wrinkling. So, the best way to combat this is to reduce your sugar intake. Instead of having refined sugar in your regular diet, have organic honey or jiggery instead. Doing this will help you to have clear and smooth skin.
Use Essential Oils
One of the best ways to boost your skin’s health is to use essential oils in your skin care regimen. Makeup and skin care products have too many chemicals, which when used over a long period of time, clogs pores and makes one prone to breakouts. To avoid this, one should use essential oils such as jasmine, lavender and rose that have many skin healing properties. For example, lavender essential oil helps in improving skin elasticity and keeps skin supple and soft. Use essential oils with carrier oil such as almond oil or jojoba oil for best results.
Include Omega 3 Fatty Acids
Food rich in omega 3 fatty acids such as salmon and walnuts as well as dairy products such as curd and milk should be included in the diet. These foods help to get rid of accumulated toxins in the body, which in turn gives your skin a youthful radiance.
Natural Face Mask
Steam your face every week and apply a natural face mask such as a yogurt and gram flour or honey and lemon juice. Steaming your face, will open the pores of your skin and help in getting rid of excess oil and dirt. A face mask will hydrate and nourish the skin.
These were a few steps to detox your skin. A good diet and a healthy lifestyle, coupled with a proper skin care regimen will help you to have a smooth and radiant complexion.
