  • Grapefruit:

    Though it may be surprising, certain foods can affect your medication. That is why, it is always better to check with your doctor before you take or avoid any food. Grapefruit, for instance is known to interact with your drugs. If you take medication for high blood pressure, anxiety or insomnia, Grapefruit is something which you should steer clear off.
  • Beans:

    Some people stay clear of beans due to the gas or the stomach ache which it can cause. However, beans are a great source of diet and protein. So, the tricks are to have a small serving of beans few times a week.
  • Alcohol:

    Drinking alcohol in moderation is known to reduce your risk of heart attack and some other kinds of strokes. However, as you grow older, alcohol can affect you differently. Alcohol disrupts your sleeping pattern and can raise your blood pressure.
  • Dairy products:

    As you age, you develop problems related to digesting dairy products. However, a lot of people all over the world consume small portions of dairy products without developing stomach aches. Some dairy products are better tolerated as compared to the other. Non fat plain yoghurt and low fat cheese are very great nutritional choices.
  • Caffeine:

    Though caffeine may not be a problem for everyone, it can make some people feel jittery and anxious. Caffeine can also increase the heart rate and sleeping problems in some people. However, if you are trying to cut back on your caffeine intake, stopping too quickly can be bad. It can cause headaches, nausea or vomiting. Therefore, you need to slowly replace the caffeine with water, herbal tea or decaf.
  • Meats:

    Some of the healthiest meats, such as lean steak can be very difficult to chew as you grow older. However, hamburger which is the easiest on the teeth is a less nutritious choice. Hamburgers contain around 20-30% fat. You should be choosing lean ground beef which contains no more than 10% fat. Or, if you are in for a healthier protein source which is also easy to chew, fish should be your choice.
