Shed Busting Tips for Your Pet

Animals shed in order to get rid of old, damaged and extra hair. Animals tend to grow a heavy coat in the winter in order to protect them against winter cold and to insulate them. However, as soon as summer comes in, they need to shed the extra hair. Dogs are also known to shed the broken or damaged hair as their skin is often irritated from allergies. So, here are some of the most amazing tips in order to keep your dog’s skin healthy in order to reduce the shedding and remove the hair:

  • Brushing Your Pet: Make sure that you brush your pet regularly. Brushing is the best thing to make sure that your home is free from hair. Brushing is going to make sure that your pet’s coat is softer, cleaner as well as less likely to shed.
  • Feed appropriate food: A pet’s coat is a direct reflection of what they eat. Feeding your pet a high quality food with digestible protein sources is the best way to keep him healthy.
  • Feed a fatty acid supplement: Providing your pet with a Vita coat plus helps to keep your dog’s coat healthy.
  • Cover your furniture and car seats: Furniture and upholstery is the major magnet for pet hair and removing the hair from seats and furniture can be a tedious task. Car seat covers too are an excellent investment if your pet is in the shedding mode.
  • Control allergies and fleas: Make sure that you see your vet in order to ensure that your pet is getting a proper allergy relief. In order to prevent itching and scratching from the fleas, use anti allergens in order to control infestations.
  • Vacuum as much as you can: Be diligent in your vacuuming efforts. Frequent vacuuming is one of the best ways to keep your home free from dog hair.
  • Bathe your dog in summer: A clean dog is the one which has a healthier coat. A gentle oatmeal shampoo every week is known to clean your dog’s coat without drying the skin and regulate the coat.
  • Regular checkups: Many diseases are known to affect the skin and hair coat. Regular visit to the vet is going to help you identify the problems early and seek an effective treatment.
