Have an important event and found a zit on your face? Well, that’s nothing less than a nightmare! They pop up overnight and refuse to go away easily. Not to mention the unsightly marks they leave behind.

Pimples or zits are a common problem that plagues both teenagers and adults. It occurs when the oil glands on the skin get infected with bacteria. This makes the skin swell and form little cysts or blisters filled with pus. It mostly occurs on the face, back and shoulders.

There are several creams and medication available in the market that can get rid of pimples. But if you do not want to opt for chemicals, here are some simple natural remedies that will help you get rid of pimples easily.

Baking Soda and Water

Baking soda is a miracles product. Take a tablespoon of baking soda and add a few drops of water to it. Make a thick paste and apply it to the pimples. Leave it for fifteen minutes and wash with cold water. Baking soda helps to dry out the pimples and get rid of the excess oil without being too harsh on the skin.

Egg

Eggs, particularly the egg white helps tighten the pores and also remove excess oil from skin. Remove the egg white from the yolk and whisk it till frothy. Apply it on the affected area and let it dry. Once it has completely dried up, wash with lukewarm water.

Garlic

It might smell awful, but garlic has anti-bacterial properties that can reduce pimples and actually prevent them from showing up again. Mash a clove of garlic into a fine paste and apply it on the zits. Leave for a few minutes. Do this several times a day to get maximum results. You can also include garlic in your daily diet as it is proven to be good for your health.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera has been used for treating skin problems for ages. It is extremely beneficial when it comes to treating pimples. Aloe vera has cooling effects and it also removes excess oil from the pores. Less oil means you are less prone to having a breakout. It is best to use aloe vera in its pure form, which is the plant. Remove the pulp from the leaf and apply it to the affected area. Once it is dry, wash with lukewarm water.

Cucumber

Cucumbers have anti-inflammatory properties. Take out the juice of a cucumber and dab it on the pimples. You can also apply grated cucumber on your face to get instant brightness.

Lemon

Pimples leave behind scars. This is when the lemon does its job. Lemon juice has natural bleaching properties and applying it on the scars will help lighten the marks. If your skin is too sensitive, dilute the lemon juice with water or milk.

Olive Oil

Olive oil has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also rich in antioxidant which is extremely beneficial for your skin. Massage the affected area with olive oil to lighten the scars left behind by the pimples. Applying olive oil will also reduce the oiliness from the skin and unclog the pores.

These were a few easy home remedies to get rid of pimples and their scars. Apart from following these remedies you also need to understand that pimple outbreaks are usually due to improper diet and poor hygiene. So, making small changes in your food habits and following a proper regime of hygiene will help prevent outbreaks in the future.
