What You Should Not Be Doing at Night

Insomnia is very common condition which affects so many people all over the world. A lot of people are frustrated with the lack of sleep. Around 10% people all over the world have experienced insomnia at sometime in their life or the other. If you happen to be staring at the ceiling every night, night after night, then it is a sign that you are suffering Insomnia.

Here are some of the options that you should not be opting for, given a choice:

  • Look Away from The Clock: It should be avoided to look at the wall. Make the clock look away from the bed or hide it in the drawer. If you keep on checking the time again and again, you will only be thinking only about the fact that you will be never able to go to sleep. This will only make you realize that you are an insomniac.
  • Stop staying up in the Bed: Leave up your bed and then indulge in something quiet such as watching TV or reading a book. If you cannot go to sleep, make sure that you indulge in activities such as these. These are going to remind your brain that you are awake for some reason and there is no reason to worry about it.
  • Avoid The Bright Light: In case you need to get out of your bed, it is very important to sit in a dim light. The bright lights should be switched off as the bright light goes out to stop the production of melatonin, which is a hormone which is response to regulate the sleep in people.
  • Avoid Stimulation Activities: Make sure that you indulge in something which occupies your mind. Make sure that your provide your brain with something which stimulates your brain in a very relaxed way. Indulging in light reading and listening to music is recommended. However, do not indulge in something too vigorous, such as checking your work email or check book.

These are the things that you should be avoiding in order to go to sleep and to keep your insomnia in bay.
