A lot of women experience a craving for chomping on ice during the course of their pregnancy. This urge to eat foods which are non nutritive in nature is known as Pica. Ice cravings are medically known as Pagophagia and this does not mean necessarily that you are suffering from a nutrient deficiency.
Though eating ice during the course of your pregnancy does not cause any harm to the baby or you, it can take a toll on your teeth in the long term.
It is generally found out that women who crave for ice are often suffering from Iron deficiency, though ice does not contain any iron content. A large number of women all over the world have been surveyed to consume large amounts of Ice during the course of their gestation period.
