Feeling Itchy while you are pregnant. Is it normal?Created On : March 20, 2015
It is not uncommon to experience itchiness during the course of your pregnancy, especially around the growing belly and the breast region. This is caused due to the stretching of the skin. Hormonal changes can also play a major role in causing itchiness.
Some pregnant women also find that the palms and the soles of their hands and feet are often itchy. This condition is basically caused due to an increase in the level of the hormone estrogen in the bloodstream. This condition tends to go away on it’s own after the delivery of the child.
Pregnant women who are already dealing with conditions such as Eczema may find their condition to be aggravated during the course of their pregnancy.
In case you are experiencing a condition such as this, it is recommended to avoid hot showers or bath as it could dry out your skin and make the itching even worse. It is also recommended to use mild and unscented soaps and it is advised to rinse off the soap properly after use and to towel off lightly after the shower.
