What does a faint line on a pregnancy test mean?

Created On : March 18, 2015

Even the faintest of the lines on a pregnancy test can mean that the test has been able to find pregnancy hormones in your urine. Usually, a false positive test can be very rare to find.

No one really has an idea as to what a faint line looks like, so we will be discussing the probabilities of a thin line on your pregnancy test.

Usually, the pregnancy tests have been designed in order to detect the hCG in your urine. hGC is one of the early markers for pregnancy within your system. The amount of hCG in your urine depends on the time duration for which you have been pregnant. The more the days since you have been pregnant, the darker will be the line and the more will be the concentration of hCG in your urine.

So, usually, a very faint line means that you have been pregnant for only a few days now.

Could a faint line mean that I am not pregnant?

Though this is very unlikely, it is very possible too. False positives tend to happen only if you have done the test wrongly or have used a test that is past it’s expiration date. You might also get a false positive if you have had an hCG injection as a part of your infertility treatment or have a certain medical condition needing to inject the hormone artificially within your bloodstream.
